SCGS Genealogy Jamboree: Marriott Room Announcement

Did you know that half of our Jamboree attendees stay overnight at least one night at a hotel? Most stay at the official conference hotel, the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport.

If you're planning to come to the Southern California Genealogy Jamboree or the Family History and DNA conference and need a place to stay, you should make your hotel reservations now.

We have reserved two blocks of rooms for Jamboree. The primary block is in effect for June 4 through June 9, 2014. We have negotiated a discounted room rate for Jamboree: $155 per night single or double occupancy, $170 for three occupants and $185 for four guests.

The second, smaller block is concierge level and carries a higher room rate of $169. However, it also comes with access to the concierge room (free food!).

Reservations must be made before May 4, 2014.

Here is a link to the registration page. If you don't see the $169 rate, it means the blog is already filled.

If you need internet access in your room, the cost will be charged to your room bill. The Marriott charges $12.95 per day (plus tax) for wired Internet, which allows for only one device at a time. Wifi is available throughout the common areas of the hotel and the meeting rooms, although it is not the fast speed you're used to at home.

The reduced parking rate for Jamboree is $10 per day. Parking can also be charged to your hotel bill. Overnight guests have in-and-out privileges.

Jamboree Update: Blogger Badge Contest

As we've mentioned before, Jamboree doesn't choose official bloggers like some other genealogy conferences.  For us, every blogger, every social media user, every attendee is equally important. We use the term "honorary blogger" -- or "friend."

On April 1, one lucky blogger will be chosen at random to receive a free registration to Jamboree.  To participate in our contest, just download the "I'll Be There" badge and post it on your blog or Facebook page and link to the Jamboree website http://www.genealogyjamboree.com. To be eligible for the free registration, you must include your URL so we can link back to you.

The winner will be selected from the list below from submissions emailed to jamboree@scgsgenealogy.com by midnight on March 31. The winner may use the registration himself or herself or use it for a promotion on the blog.

Speakers and exhibitors, you can participate too. If your blog is selected, you will receive a free registration that you can pass along to one of your lucky readers.

Here are the blogs that are participating thus far. If you have sent us your information and it's not on this list, please get in touch. We received a couple of entries that did not include complete information.

Make sure your blog is listed! Enter our contest today!
