The tale of white slavery often goes untold. The King freed himself of the burden of overcrowded jails. The impoverished broke the chains of want and need. The records tell our ancestors’ stories.

Beth Foulk received a family tree from her father, which launched her into a lifetime of genealogy research. She shares her love of genealogy through lectures, articles and personal assistance. Speaking highlights include the Missouri State Genealogy Association Conference, Midwest Genealogy Center’s Annual Conferences, and the Nebraska State Genealogy Conference.

Call for Presentations Announced - SCGS Webinar Series


The Southern California Genealogical Society is requesting presentation submissions for its popular webinar program, the Jamboree Extension Series. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2013.

Webinars are held on the first Saturday at 10am Pacific time and on the third Wednesday at 6pm Pacific time. Presentations are scheduled for 90 minutes, with 60 minutes for lecture and 30 minutes for questions and answers.

SCGS holds a 1000-seat subscription to GoToWebinar by Citrix. SCGS staff will moderate each session and will provide assistance for those speakers who are not familiar with the software.

Speakers receive $100 per webinar (paid upon receipt of invoice). Each speaker will be required to provide a 2-4 page syllabus at least two weeks in advance of the presentation date.

Genealogy Jamboree Call for Presentations Announced - Due October 1, 2013

The Southern California Genealogical Society announces a Call for Presentations for the 45th Annual Southern California Genealogy Jamboree, to be held at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, Burbank, California, Friday through Sunday, June 6 through 8, 2014. The pre-event on Thursday, June 5, will be Family History and DNA: Genetic Genealogy in 2014.

The 2014 Jamboree will be the culmination of the celebration of the Society’s 50th Anniversary. The theme of the 2014 Jamboree is Golden Memories: Discovering Your Family History. Our geographic/ethnic focus will be on European ancestors.
